Our Purpose

Understanding before judgement.

Behaviour is often the most visible part of a situation, but it’s rarely the whole story.

Behind every behaviour is a person. A life. Relationships. Environments. Stress. Strengths. Things that are working and things that aren’t. When behaviour becomes the only thing people can see, it’s easy for the person behind it to disappear.

Our purpose is to make sure that doesn’t happen.
We exist to help people understand what behaviour is communicating, so support can be built around the person rather than simply reacting to what they do. In doing so, we work to improve their quality of life.

Our principles

What we stand for.

1.

Person-centred.

The person, not the diagnosis or the behaviour, is the centre of the work.

2.

Practical.

Plans have to be doable by the people using them, in real life. A plan that needs a perfect day to work isn’t a plan.

3.

Clinically grounded.

Decisions are anchored in evidence and supervised by senior clinicians. We explain the evidence behind our decisions, acknowledge uncertainty where it exists, and make out clinical reasoning clear.

4.

Collaborative.

We work with families, support workers, schools and the broader clinical team. Behaviour support that ignores the people already involved doesn’t last.

5.

Learning-led.

We treat our practice as something to keep getting better at, not something we’ve already solved. That’s what supervision, review and our clinical governance are for.
